One slow drain or several affected fixtures?
A contractor will need to know whether the problem is limited to one fixture or appears in several drains. Gurgling, sewer odor or water backing up into the lowest fixture are useful details to report.
If sewage is backing up, stop using water fixtures and treat it as an urgent sewer problem rather than a routine slow drain.
Clearing and investigating recurring clogs
Basic clearing and main sewer line snaking are common quote categories. Ask what method is proposed, which section of pipe will be addressed and what is included if the obstruction cannot be cleared.
For recurring problems, ask whether a camera inspection or hydro-jetting is appropriate. Clearing a blockage does not by itself establish that the pipe is in good condition.
Typical drain clearing costs
The site’s 2026 local estimates are $150–$350 for basic drain clearing and $250–$550 for main sewer line snaking. Access and pipe condition can change the price.
